It is reasonable to speculate that soon after support is withdrawn, many new hacker attacks and distribution of malware will start to occur. It appears that any XP machine connected to the internet or other source of infection may not only be a danger to itself but to the other machines connected to the same local network.
Removal of Microsoft XP from your older model PC is becoming essential for many. If you're wondering what to do, you can purchase and install a more up-to-date version of Microsoft, buy a new PC – or this may finally be the time to go ahead and switch to Linux.

I finally started using Windows 8.1 So many unwanted features that keep disrupting my use of the computer. As a result, I installed Linux Mint on my old XP laptop. Fantastic, easy to do, and so much more user friendly. Oh! Also at no cost. I avoided this for years. Silly me.
